COURTNEY TAKES POLE POSITION OVER DREAMWORLD CROCODILE
James Courtney won the final race of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship
and now he's getting early practice at taking pole position in this
year's series by being one of the first people to pole feed Dreamworld's
massive five metre salt water crocodile, Goliath.
Standing on a special feeding ramp just a couple of metres above the
water line, James will use a 1.2 metre pole to dangle fresh chicken over
the croc pond, facing a different kind of charge as the 50 year old
reptile catapults his body out of the water for his daily "catch".
Said Courtney: "Getting through a V8 supercars race is a heart pumping
experience, but nothing compares to feeding a one tonne croc. Goliath's
head is twice the size of my shoulders and he is 15 times my body
weight. Seeing him leap out of the water and snap his massive jaw just
metres from my hand is a pure adrenalin rush."
After finishing his fourth year in the V8 Supercars championships with
two wins (Townsville and Sydney) and six podiums, the 29-year old Dick
Johnson Racing driver and former Dancing with the Stars contestant spent
the festive season relaxing with his wife and daughter at their Gold
Coast home.
"The holiday season is almost over and I'm as hungry for a win as
Goliath is for his lunch," James said referring to the 2010 racing
season which starts in Abu Dhabi from February 18-20.

Dreamworld's 90 minute Croc Feeding Experience is available to just five
members of the public every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at
Dreamworld's Australian Wildlife Experience. One of the newest animal
experiences in Queensland and the only place south of Rockhamption where
visitors can get close enough to hand feed these prehistoric creatures,
the encounter includes a briefing session, croc feeding, croc photo and
croc cuddles. It was launched on January 5 this year and costs $99 per
person. For bookings, call (07) 5556 1111.
